ED Conducts Raids Linked to Anil Ambani in Money Laundering Investigation

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out coordinated search operations at multiple locations connected to industrialist Anil Ambani as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation. The raids reportedly targeted companies and individuals associated with Reliance Power and other related entities.

Multi-City Searches by ED Teams

According to sources familiar with the development, around 10 to 12 locations in Mumbai and Hyderabad were searched early Friday morning. Nearly 15 ED teams were deployed to conduct the coordinated operations before dawn.

The searches focused on premises linked to individuals and companies suspected of involvement in financial irregularities tied to the power utility sector. Officials did not disclose the exact addresses of the locations to avoid affecting the ongoing investigation.

The Enforcement Directorate is probing alleged money laundering activities under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The investigation is believed to be examining financial transactions and corporate structures linked to entities associated with Ambani.

Reliance Power Denies Raid Reports

In response to widespread media reports, Reliance Power issued a clarification stating that no raids were conducted at its offices or premises.

A spokesperson for the company said the organization was aware of the reports but, to the best of its knowledge, the Enforcement Directorate had not conducted any search operations at its facilities.

The statement emphasized that the company wanted to clarify the situation for stakeholders and the public following circulating news reports.

Earlier Attachment of Mumbai Residence

The latest search operations come days after the ED provisionally attached Ambani’s Mumbai residence, known as Abode. The property is located in the upscale Pali Hill area of Mumbai and is reportedly valued at ₹3,716.83 crore.

The attachment was part of the agency’s ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct and asset tracing linked to suspected money laundering activities.

Investigation Ongoing

Officials have not yet released detailed findings from the latest searches. The ED typically analyzes seized documents, financial records, and digital evidence to determine the next course of action in such cases.

As the probe continues, authorities are expected to review the material collected during the searches to establish whether any violations of financial regulations or money laundering provisions occurred.

Further official statements may be issued as the investigation progresses.
