Amman | Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jordan on Monday, marking the first leg of his four-day, three-nation diplomatic tour that will also take him to Ethiopia and Oman. The visit is expected to give fresh momentum to India–Jordan relations across political, economic, and strategic domains.

In a special gesture reflecting the warmth of bilateral ties, Prime Minister Modi was personally received by Jordan’s Prime Minister Jafar Hassan at the airport. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome, underlining the significance Jordan attaches to its partnership with India.

The two-day visit focuses on strengthening cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, defence, education, renewable energy, and regional security. Both sides are also expected to exchange views on developments in West Asia and other issues of mutual global concern.

India and Jordan share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect, people-to-people contacts, and collaboration at multilateral forums. Prime Minister Modi’s visit is seen as a strategic step toward enhancing diplomatic engagement with the Arab world and reinforcing India’s presence in the Middle East.

Following his engagements in Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia and Oman as part of India’s broader outreach to Africa and the Gulf region, aimed at expanding economic partnerships and strengthening geopolitical cooperation.
